Healthy Eating Tips for Seniors

As people age, their nutritional needs change. Some may not be able to consume the same foods, or foods in the same quantities, as they could when they were younger and perhaps healthier. Too much sodium, sugar or fats can wreak havoc on the human body when people age.

Fiber for Heart Health

A diet high in fiber, including fresh fruits, vegetables and whole grains, can help reduce cholesterol and keep the digestive system regular. The only caution with fruits and vegetables is that if the stomach is sensitive to certain fruit acids, such as those found in tomatoes or citrus fruits, this may cause some discomfort, but overall vegetables and fruits should be consumed as much and as often as possible. Fruits and vegetables contain high plant fiber which helps cleanse the bowels and helps maintain a healthy blood glucose level, keeping early onset diabetes at bay.

High-Quality Protein

When most people think of protein, they may immediately think of a thick, juicy steak. For those so inclined, they may still enjoy steak as they age, but they may also want to consider lighter, white meat alternatives, such as pork, chicken and turkey, which are lean protein that promotes muscle strength and keeps muscle fibers from deteriorating. Grilled preparation is tasty and fast, and is a healthy alternative to fried meats. For those who would like to try a meat-free alternative, soy protein and nuts are another great way to add healthy protein and fiber into the diet.

Avoid Dairy

Younger people need the calcium in dairy to support growing bones and muscle health. Because dairy products are high in fat, aging bodies may not metabolize this fat as easily as it did when someone was younger. Those at high risk for heart disease, or people who suffer from high blood pressure, may want to avoid dairy-rich foods to keep their arteries clearer and to promote healthy blood flow. Too much fat in the diet may also make it difficult for the liver to function properly, so it may be best to avoid dairy as much as possible.

Lower Sodium Intake

People who suffer from high blood pressure should lower their sodium intake, whether this mean
s avoid salt or avoiding processed foods. Many convenience and processed foods contain high amounts of salt and sugar, so read labels carefully and keep a healthy weight and blood pressure in mind.

Hydrate

As always, hydration is important, no matter what your age. Drink more water throughout the day to help flush toxins from the body and to help the body cool down on a hot day. Water is healthy for skin, kidneys, and the body overall, so water is always a good option as a beverage.

Ebola: Does Mounting Evidence Suggest A False Flag Hoax?

Originated in March this year in Guinea then spread to Liberia and Sierra Leone West Africa, the out-of-control Ebola outbreak death-toll has increased exponentially now reaching well over 4,000 while many countries are indeed on red alert in anticipation of a global pandemic...

Having said that does the evidence surrounding the outbreak suggest a false flag hoax more so now than ever? Let's look into it.

The False flag hoax and its history

History has shown us that false flags in the form of fake diseases are nothing new. Remember SARS, the bird flu and then there was the so called swine flu..?

Typical of false flags the hidden powers that be had secretly created an enemy in the form of a virus with all the media hype and fear mongering needed to create a mass panic which caused people to rush in for their vaccinations as protection. However, nothing ever came of these diseases because they never existed. The invention of these diseases and mass panic was created for huge profits in vaccine treatment sales.

Here we go again?

-Is Ebola another false flag created to bring down western world countries by fear, introduce more laws that take away your freedom and implement martial law..? What will be put in the vaccine?

I certainly don't think that false flags are so 'in the vernacular' that they won't be used again.
Polymerase chain reaction (PCR)

We're not being told by mainstream media that the PCR diagnostic test used to identify the Ebola virus is greatly unreliable and wildly inaccurate. So those said to have Ebola identified by using PCR could be falsely diagnosed. Instead of Ebola, the test could be indicating a number of other conditions such as a heavy cold, flu or reactions to contaminated drinking water...

The inaccuracy of PCR is supported by an August 2014 Department of Defence protocol document entitled "Ebola Zaire (EZ1) rRT-PCR (TaqMan®) Assay on ABI 7500 Fast Dx, LightCycler, & JBAIDS: INSTRUCTION BOOKLET" which can be downloaded online for free.

-Basically, in so many words, it states that the PCR test should only be used as a back up to supporting evidence already confirming Ebola.

Confirming evidence should include signs of blood haemorrhaging, a history based on the likelihood of contracting the disease by means of exposure... further biochemical evidence, signs and symptoms... Then there's been the 'presumptive cases of Ebola' based on evidence not related to the disease.

Why have these protocols been so blatantly ignored?

-At this point you may comment if it's not Ebola then what are these people dying over.

Instead of thinking in terms of 'one factor' it could be a number of factors. It doesn't have to be one single virus. Could it be related to extreme poverty? That many of the natives may be ill and dying over dysentery, mal-nutrition, parasitic infection or other poverty related illnesses?

I consider the one factor only, a single virus, to be highly suspect...

Big Pharma profits

With the anticipation of a global pandemic, comments have been made such as those by Dr. Anthony Fauci, director of the U.S. National Institute for Allergy and Infectious Diseases alluding to the manufacture and introduction of a fast-tracked countries-wide Ebola vaccine. It so happens that this guy has an experimental vaccine on the go tied to GlaxoSmithKline. On the subject of 'who will gain?' did you know that the WHO (World Health Organization) directors who may well implement mandatory vaccinations throughout the world have ties to pharmaceutical companies? The CDC is another organisation who stands to gain greatly in the potential cash-cow.

-I find this quite horrifying. What about potential vaccine damage? For example, are you aware of the 100's and 100's of children now suffering narcolepsy as a result of a fast-tracked swine flu vaccine? There have been other adverse effects such as the 1000's of miscarriages reported...

Think of the fear mongering, emotional blackmailing or bullying; threatening to ostracize children from day-care or school and adults from work or even the threat of imprisonment should the new toxic vaccine be refused.

-All this over what looks like a bogus disease?

Suppression of natural cures

To achieve maximum profit from vaccine sales the powers that be in conjunction with big pharma will not allow any cheap, natural alternative treatment: Efficacy will never come into question.

For example, well respected Dr Rima Libow, medical director for the Natural Solutions Foundation, has produced evidence to show that nano-silver can effectively treat sufferers. However, the WHO recently stopped mass shipments of the nano-silver solution from getting into West Africa. The effectiveness of nano-silver had also been supported earlier on by the US government showing how it could also be used to treat other forms of hemorrhagic fever.

-Not one single mainstream media outlet has ever reported this while most of conventional medicine remains ignorant to these findings.

Flights are still allowed out of West Africa...

In spite of high level Ebola threats authorities are still allowing flights out of West Africa and into other countries. Using computational analysis PLOS has stated that if authorities implemented an 80% restriction in flights out of Africa and into France and the UK then the risks could be lowered by as much as 25% and 15% respectively.

In the USA the WHO and Obama have done nothing to block incoming flights from West Africa. Why isn't the President doing something to protect the American people? Thomas Eric Duncan named as America's first Ebola victim just before his death when entering the US from West Africa was allowed walk around airports and in amongst the general public without ever getting approached by US security personnel questioning where he had come from and establishing his health conditions.

No border control

It has been said that Obama has also neglected federal guidelines and protocol related to the bioterrorism threat and not implemented southern border control.

Could this be a deliberate act of treasonous negligence suggesting a false flag or is it ineptitude?

-I find it difficult at this present time to make any other conclusion than a global pandemic false flag.

What Color Should Your Teeth Be?

Although we live in a society that highly regards shiny white teeth, is that really the way we were meant to look? It seems that more and more people are decided to bleach their teeth beyond recognition because it is considered to trademark a healthy appearance. You are probably aware that drinking coffee or tea will tend to stain your teeth yellow, but were you aware that the aging process actually changes the colour of your teeth?

Have you ever seen an old piano? Think about it. All piano keys used to be made of ivory; the tusk bone of an elephant. These were gleaming white at the beginning, and now those pianos sit decrepit in a corner with yellowed, cracked keys which may even have warped out of shape. This is what is naturally in store for your own teeth, although you should not worry too much; yellowed, warped piano keys are often twice as old as you will ever expect to be! The point is that the tissues that make up your bones and teeth will change over time and as you age will become more yellow. This colour change can be confusing, and often foods and drinks are blamed instead of pure genetics.

Younger people will have the most naturally white teeth of anyone, but even if you look closely at them you will see that few can be said to have perfectly white teeth. This is because on the whole, white is not a natural colour! Certainly close shades are in existence and are very flattering, but there is no escaping the slow colour shift from near white to nearer yellow. Sad, but true! Regardless of this fact, you have probably already armed yourself (to the teeth) to defend a whitened front.

Essentially, teeth whitening can be seen as another way to stop the aging process. In the same way that you use moisturising creams to stop wrinkles and hair dye to keep away the grey, various teeth whitening products such as toothpastes, polishes and adhesive strips are being used to make teeth whiter and more youthful. It is a somewhat unconscious effort by Westerners to remain in the blossom of youth for ever longer; white teeth are the trademark of preteens and teenagers, but certainly not of the middle aged and retirement set! Whatever the conscious and subconscious reasons for whitening your teeth, it is best to come into the venture with the knowledge that you may not ever have a perfectly white set. But that is no reason to despair!

You know there are plenty of teeth whitening options available, so choose one that is right for you and do the best you can to bleach away stains and natural colour changes. Society (especially North American society) is cultured to put a lot of value on teeth, and obviously you are not expected to be any different. Medically speaking, teeth whitening is a safe procedure so long as you have it professionally done or pay close attention to packet instructions.

Do not be tempted to over bleach or you can damage your gums and the roots of your teeth, a painful situation that is best avoided. It can be appealing to squeeze a tube of bleach on the enamel and leave it overnight, but believe me, it is not worth it! Be patient, be safe, and most of all be understanding to the fact that your teeth are not horribly stained, they are just growing older like the rest of you! There is nothing wrong with that, now is there?

Exercise Tips Without Joining a Gym

Exercise. I know.... I know, that word makes most people cringe, but it doesn't have to be that way. You don't have to join a gym, you can exercise at home. Many people pay high gym membership fee's and never go back!! That's just crazy!!

No, I'm talking about the things we do everyday, like . This is known as low impact exercise and is especially good if you are extra weighty as they will put very little or no stress on the Hip, Knee and Ankle Joint.
Walking, Gardening, Swimming or riding our Bikes

Anything that raises our heart rates, gets you slightly out of breath and makes you feel warmer is classed as Exercise, but whatever activity you choose, you should always, always start slowly and build up gradually, even if it's only Walking. Start off by doing 30 minutes and build up from there. If you take on too much, too soon, you could injure yourself by pulling a muscle, then you won't get any Exercise done at all.

I think 30 minutes per day for 5 plus days a week is good enough. Even with a busy schedule, I'm sure most people could fit in 30 minutes per day, even if it just means walking briskly around your house or garden, or going up and down the stairs a few times.

The benefits of exercise are endless. You will be amazed at how much better you will feel after you get into the swing of it. Talking about swing, keeping fit should be fun, so when I do my 30 minutes, I just pop on my favorite CD and dance to my hearts content. "Exercise isn't Exercise when you are enjoying yourself".

Water is essential for your good health and well being, but even more important when you are Exercising, as you will need to replenish what you are losing through sweat.

For healthy exercise, before you start your 30 minutes, it's important to do some warm up stretches, to warm your muscles through and get them ready for action and is equally important to do more stretching at the end. Do this for about 10 minutes each time and it will help prevent any muscle stiffness. So go find yourself a dance partner and Have Fun getting fit.

Help to Reduce Belly Fat

Can You Lose Weight Where You Want?

If you have excess weight only in specific parts of your body, you still must look at yourself as a whole. It's not possible to spot reduce; in other words, you can't dictate that you only want weight to come off one place or another. In most cases your so called "trouble spots" is where the fat will come off last, so be prepared to lose weight in your fingers (rings fall off) and your face (friends may ask if you're feeling all right) first. There is hope for losing that belly fat though.

Work Toward Building Muscle and Reducing Body Fat

If you work toward building muscle and reducing body fat you will eventually tackle those trouble spots though, and develop a better physique in the process. Muscle tissue is active meaning it requires calories to be maintained. If you were stranded without a food supply, eventually your body would turn to its own muscle tissue as a source of nutrition first (muscles are protein) while saving the fat stores for last. Simply put, fat is nature's way of ensuring survival during times of famine. That's why the prevalence of heart failure kills someone who is severely malnourished. By building more muscle you become a more efficient energy burning machine which translates to mean you can eat more food! That to me is a good thing.

The More Active You Are, The More You Get to Eat!

That explains why some people can eat so much more than others yet not gain weight; your efficient energy burning friend simply has a greater proportion of muscle to fat than you. Muscle is more dense than fat. It's often said that a pound of muscle is heavier than a pound of fat, but the truth is a pound is a pound. What they mean is a one pound volume of muscle is a smaller package than a one pound volume of fat, or put another way, fat is billowy and fluffy while muscle is sleek and compact. Lady No. 1 weighs 120 pounds with 30% body fat so she has 84 pounds of lean tissue and 36 pounds of fat, while Lady No. 2 also weighing 120 pounds but at 18% body fat is carrying roughly 98 pounds of muscle and 22 pounds of fat. Would you rather be Lady No. 1 or Lady No. 2? Which do you think takes up more space, 22 or 36 pounds of fat? I'd say 36 pounds of fat would be a lot bigger package than 22 pounds.

How Much You Weigh is Meaningless

That is why body weight as a number by itself is meaningless, but your ratio of fat to muscle is very important and worth working to change. Strive to decrease your body fat and increase your muscle mass and you'll look better, you'll feel stronger and more energetic and you'll simply be healthier.

You can generally have your body fat tested at fitness centers and most gyms so ask about having it done. It's better to know you have 30% body fat and work to reduce it to 29, than not to know and only think in terms of body weight. Most people who think only of how much they weigh tend to do everything to reduce that weight, and it's usually at the expense of losing more valuable muscle.

The best way to increase muscle and decrease fat is through a consistent exercise program. Start at whatever is your beginning, but do start.

Begin with an overall body conditioning type exercise program, doing whatever you enjoy, whether it be a sport, gardening, weight lifting, biking, hiking, or any other activity. Any physical movement you do regularly counts as exercise even if it is doing laundry or taking out the trash. Get as much as you can out of every chore you do, and stop thinking of it as a chore but instead as an opportunity to move your body.

In the early 1900s a washing machine was a new invention. People used to wash their clothes by hand, and hang them outside to dry. Being a housewife was actually a pretty strenuous job. It's no wonder women were thankful for modern conveniences like automatic washers and dryers, but now we've come to where our daily activities are not taking our bodies at all, so unless we want to get fatter and fatter we must do something about it.

Get Fit and Belly Fat Disappears

It doesn't make sense to drive around and around in the parking lot looking for the closest space when you're on your way to run or walk on the treadmill. Why take the elevator five flights every day at work and then pay a monthly fee to do the StairMaster after work? What if we all started to notice that our world is full of exercise equipment.

We could become so much more fit if we'd just start to notice all the opportunities for physical movement we miss in the name of convenience. Look around and see if you can spot some exercise opportunities, and then get busy and get fit.

How to Treat Nail Fungus

How to treat nail fungus? If you're grappling with this problem, you're not alone: fungal nail infections are common, difficult to get rid of, and if you decide to use a prescription drug, you'll be faced with both high costs and possible side effects. If you're prepared to try to treat the infection without a prescription, read about home remedies, homeopathic treatments and alternative medicine treatments in order to choose something that you'll be comfortable with.

Curing nail fungus takes time no matter what route you choose. Fingernails grow slowly and toenails grow more slowly still - once a fungus has infiltrated the nail, the portion that's affected must grow out completely before all signs of infection will be gone. (Even if the fungus is dead, the damaged nail will not rebuild itself - it must grow out). Fungal remedies for nail infections often require you to set aside time every day, so when you are comparing methods for how to treat nail fungus, be honest with yourself about how much time you're willing to give it over the long term.

While it's likely that most home remedies that have stood the test of time will work in time if you follow instructions and stick with it, some of the most promising methods for curing nail fungus are new alternative remedies based on herbal knowledge and research. Producers of these products have approached the problem of how to treat nail fungus by investigating the antifungal properties of plant extracts - things like tea tree oil, neem oil, golden seal, echinacea, ginkgo, ginseng, and other well known herbal remedies. In recent years, scientific studies have supported the antifungal and antibacterial potential for many of these plants.

While prescription drugs used for curing nail fungus are generally taken orally, home remedies and alternative medicine products are generally applied topically (although at least one alternative remedy combines a topical treatment and an oral herbal supplement). The topical approach appeals to many people investigating how to cure nail fungus because it means that treatment is directed to the site of the problem instead of at the whole body. This differs from treatment with oral drugs, which expose internal organs to the antifungal agent unnecessarily.

Nail fungus infection should always be confirmed by a medical professional before any treatment is attempted: other nail conditions can mimic fungal infection.

How Do You Know if You Have Diabetes?

The most reliable diabetic symptom for diagnosis is high blood sugar levels caused either by decreased insulin production (Type I diabetes), or by the body developing a resistance to
insulin (Type II diabetes). Though high blood sugar is a reliable diabetic symptom when diagnosing the disease, it can often be hard to detect directly. More diagnostic are diabetic symptoms that are side effects of high blood sugar that can act as an indicator to the underlying diabetic symptom, and serve as an early warning to the patient that he or she should get tested for diabetes before the diabetic symptoms worsen into more serious conditions.

Excessive thirst is an early diabetic symptom, especially when there is no obvious cause, such as exercise, hot weather, or other illnesses. Another diabetic symptom is excessive hunger, even when consuming normal amounts of food. Frequent urination is also an early diabetic symptom, and most often manifests itself as frequent trips to the bathroom during the night. Fatigue after meals is another early diabetic symptom. Finally, rapid weight loss without explanation, or any dramatic weight change can also be an early diabetic symptom.

Though these diabetic symptoms can also be related to other medical conditions, patients should be tested for diabetes if any of these diabetic symptoms persist for an extended period of time. Testing for diabetes is a simple procedure, and if these diabetic symptoms are not recognized early on, the disease can progress untreated, potentially leading to more severe diabetic symptoms.

In some cases where early diabetic symptoms are left untreated, neurological diabetic symptoms may develop, such as: blurred vision due to macular degeneration, which can eventually lead to blindness; numbness in the extremities due to peripheral neuropathy; slow-healing wounds and/or persistent and recurring yeast infections in women due to a suppressed immune system; and dry, itchy skin due to diminished sweat gland function as a result of peripheral neuropathy.

If you or anyone you know is chronically affected by any of these diabetic symptoms, they could be suffering from untreated diabetes and should see a doctor immediately. If left untreated these diabetic symptoms could progress into more serious and potentially life-threatening conditions.
